Fort William v Huntly

Huntly made it two wins out of two in the Scot Ads SHFL by repeating their 4-2 win over Buckie Thistle with a second 4-2 win on the road, this time in Lochaber. However once again the Claggan Park side have demonstrated that they are making positive strides in the early part of the season.

There was a lively start to the match; Fort had an early claim for a penalty denied when Sean Ellis was pulled down in box as he ran through on goal before Scott Garret of Huntly put through Michael Ewen on but he shot wide.
On 38 minutes Fort got their noses in front from the penalty spot when Kevin Ferguson turned Alan Redford on the left of the box before being brought down. Sean Ellis then stepped up and fired the ball beyond Ross Bremner in the Huntly goal.
However the their lead didn’t last long as Michael Morrison equalised three minutes later with a neat headed effort from a Russell Guild corner and Huntly doubled their tally a minute before the interval through Scott Garret who lobbed Richard Munro in the home goal from 25 yards following a long ball punted forward from defence.
Two minutes after the re-start Sean Ellis brought a good save out of Ross Bremner with his powerful shot from the corner of the 18 yard box.
With play swinging from end to end Huntly captain Michael Morrison headed over unmarked before Richard Craig made it 3-1 when he received the ball on left hand corner of the box and jinked past Steven Hendry with a nice piece of skill before firing the ball goalwards.
Huntly’s Scott Garret went on a run down the left after 81 minutes working his way past two defenders before delivering a beautiful cross leaving Ross Mackenzie the easy job of slotting home number four from 6 yards.
One minute later Fort grabbed a second consolation with a very similar goal. Sean Ellis crossed in from the left on 82 and Mark Gillespie fired the ball home from 8 yards.
Despite the promising signs for Calum Maclean if was Lochaber native Dave McGinaly who was smiling at full time as they Black and Golds remain on the coat tails of the leaders.
